“Before deciding to pursue my Master’s degree at Vietnam Japan University (VJU), I struggled with doubts about my own competence; yet the past two years have helped me rediscover myself and regain confidence and belief in my worth and capabilities.” That was the message shared by Nguyễn Nguyệt Linh, who delivered the graduation speech on behalf of Cohort 9 graduates at VJU’s 2026 Graduation Ceremony on July 18.
Despite earning the highest entrance score for the Master’s Program in Global Leadership (MGL), Linh admitted that she often questioned whether she was capable of pursuing an academic path. Two years later, she graduated as the top-performing student of the program and was selected to represent all Master’s graduates in delivering the graduation speech.
According to Linh, the most meaningful takeaway from her time at VJU was not only the academic knowledge she gained, but also the opportunity to study in an international, professional, and inspiring environment where every student is respected, supported, and encouraged to grow in their own way.
“The MGL program opened up valuable opportunities for me to access in-depth knowledge and strengthen my capabilities in the field of development research. I am deeply grateful for the wholehearted guidance of both Vietnamese and Japanese professors, the support of my friends, and the spirit of respect for individual diversity – values that VJU always upholds. These will remain a precious asset as I continue toward my future goals”, she said.
Throughout the program, Linh also developed a stronger research mindset. For her, scientific research is not merely about producing academic outcomes, but about addressing real-world challenges and creating meaningful value for society.
In her graduation speech, the message she wished to share with the new Bachelor’s and Master’s graduates was not a formula for academic success, but the importance of believing in oneself while embracing lifelong learning and continuous self-improvement:
“Please continue steadfastly on the path you have chosen. Position yourselves as leaders to lead yourselves, to guide every decision, every path, every step of yours. A bright future and great achievements await you.”
With the knowledge, professional skills, and confidence she gained during her two years at VJU, Linh is now ready to embark on the next chapter of her journey in research and sustainable development.
