MASTER'S PROGRAM IN PUBLIC POLICY
TRAINING GOALS

- Teaching Languages: The program is taught in English except for the following 2 modules: Philosophy (in Vietnamese), Japanese language (in Vietnamese and Japanese). Graduation thesis written and defended in English

- The Master’s Program in Public Policy at Vietnam Japan University (VJU) is designed to help students develop the mindset, analytical capacity, and skills needed to identify, assess, and address public policy issues, enabling them to participate effectively in policy processes for sustainable development in a context of international integration.
- Upon graduation, students are prepared to work in public policy planning and implementation as policy analysts, policy advisors, program managers, and monitoring and evaluation specialists. They may also pursue careers as researchers or lecturers at research institutes and universities in Vietnam and abroad, or as consultants and coordinators in international organizations and non-governmental organizations.
- The advanced knowledge and research training provided by the program also offer a strong foundation for graduates to pursue doctoral studies at reputable educational and research institutions in Vietnam and internationally.

Upon graduation, students are prepared to pursue careers in public policy planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation; research and teaching at research institutes and universities; development project management; consulting and coordination in international organizations, non-governmental organizations, government agencies, enterprises, and development-related institutions.

“The Master’s Program in Public Policy is a two-year program that effectively integrates theoretical and practical approaches to build a framework for sustainable development. As part of the interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary training programs of Vietnam Japan University, the Public Policy program equips students with in-depth knowledge of the complexity and challenges of public policy, as well as the processes of policy formulation, implementation, and evaluation. The program emphasizes the relationships among economies, sectors, national and regional development, and international relations. The program also provides students with a system of analytical tools and essential skills needed to become effective policymakers, who not only possess a sustainable vision but also have the capacity to identify and solve problems and exercise leadership to realize that vision. By participating in the program, students have many opportunities to strengthen their knowledge and skills through research projects and internships connected to real-world policy processes at both national and international levels. Graduates of the program are not only ready to take on leadership and managerial positions in Vietnamese, Japanese, and international organizations, but are also equipped with the research capacity to pursue doctoral studies in this field.”
CURRICULUM
The curriculum consists of 64 credits, including core courses in foundational and professional knowledge, as well as elective courses in specialized fields of public policy.
