On May 12, as part of the course Control Systems Engineering, second and third-year students from the Intelligent Mechatronic System and Japanese Manufacturing (EMJM) program visited Meiko Electronics Vietnam Co., Ltd. for an on-site learning experience.
Located in Thach That Industrial Park in Hanoi, the Meiko facility is part of Japan’s Meiko Group and specializes in the design and production of printed circuit boards, as well as electronic component assembly and complete electronic manufacturing services. To date, approximately 6,000 employees work at the expansive campus, which includes production facilities, water reservoir systems, employee dormitories, and various supporting infrastructure.
Upon arrival, students were instructed to comply with strict safety and occupational regulations, including the use of protective shoe covers when entering the production areas. Following an introductory briefing, the delegation toured the manufacturing processes, enabling students to gain a clearer understanding of real-world operations and to better visualize the daily responsibilities of mechatronics engineers in an industrial environment.
The visit was further highlighted by the presence of two former Japanese Studies students, Bich Thuy and Trang Nhung, who are now full-time employees at the company. Their sharing provided practical insights into the working environment, career development pathways, and employee benefits, while also offering valuable advice and “tips” for job searching.
On this occasion, Meiko representatives also expressed their welcome to VJU students interested in participating in internship programs lasting one to three months. The opportunity is expected to help students gain hands-on experience and build a solid foundation for future engineering positions at Meiko or other companies in the same field after graduation.
