On December 20th, 2021, The First Vietnam Symposium on Environmental Science & Technology (VEST 2021) was successfully organized virtually through the Zoom platform by the Master’s Program in Environmental Engineering (MEE) – Vietnam Japan University – Vietnam National University (VNU-VJU). The symposium aims to develop a network of scientists, researchers, experts, students, and practitioners in Vietnam and Japan, to share the latest research results, discuss emerging topics, showcasing industry projects and experiences in all aspects of Environmental Science and Technology. During the symposium, 01 keynote speech, 12 presentations by invited speakers, and 26 posters were delivered and exhibited.
At the beginning of the symposium, Prof. Dr. Jun Nakajima – Co-director of the Master’s Program in Environmental Engineering, Director of Institute of Sustainability Science, Vietnam Japan University and Assoc. Ikuro Kasuga from the University of Tokyo delivered the opening remark to welcome scientists, students, businesses, and sponsors attending VEST2021.
In the morning session, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Cao The Ha delivered keynote speeches titled “How to Make our City Clean, Sustainable and Resource Efficient One?” followed with the discussion moderated by Prof. Dr. Jun Nakajima, Co-Director of Master’s Program in Environmental Engineering, Director of Institute of Sustainability Science, Vietnam Japan University.
After that, following the agenda, 02 consecutive discussion sessions were chaired by Dr. Tran Thi Viet Ha and Assoc. Dr. Cao The Ha.

In the afternoon 01 discussion sessions were chaired by Dr. Nguyen Thi An Hang.
Session 3:
Presentations from guest speakers focused on various aspects related to Environmental Science and Technology, sharing ideas, technological solutions, and policies on pollution remediation, management and environmental protection.
The Scientific Committee of VEST 2021 evaluated and selected the 05 best posters to award 01 first prize, 02 second prizes, and 02 third prizes. See details here: Poster awards
The VEST 2021 symposium was a great success, raised various interesting issues, initially formed a network of scholars and businesses working in the field of environmental science and engineering. Dr. Nguyen Thi An Hang – Chairman of the VEST 2021 symposium, Director of the Master’s Program in Environmental Engineering, Vietnam Japan University, wrapped up the symposium and deeply thanked the speakers, sponsors, students, and the organizing committee for their contributions to this success of the VEST 2021.
