More than 10 Japanese students, together with students from Foreign Trade University (FTU), joined a cultural and academic exchange at the Hoa Lac Campus of VNU Vietnam Japan University (VJU) on August 13, 2026. This was an opportunity for the students to learn about the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), their cooperation projects in Vietnam and at VJU, as well as VJU’s learning and working environment.
The students attended a presentation by Mr. Hamamoto Shota from the JICA Vietnam Office, who introduced JICA’s activities and ongoing cooperation projects in Vietnam. Among them, the Technical Cooperation (TC) Project at VJU was highlighted as a representative example of JICA’s active contribution to education and human resource development. To help the students better understand this partnership, Ms. Inomata Mika, a JICA expert working at VJU, shared her professional journey and introduced VJU’s cooperation and development activities.
During the discussion session, the delegation also listened to a Japanese student currently enrolled in the Master’s Program in Area Studies (MAS) at VJU, who shared personal experiences of studying, conducting research, and living in Vietnam, offering a practical perspective on the University’s international learning environment.
The program concluded with a tour of the Hoa Lac Campus led by VJU students who are fluent in both English and Japanese. Thanks to their shared understanding of Vietnamese and Japanese cultures, conversations about campus life, classes, and student experiences unfolded naturally in a lively and friendly atmosphere.
