On December 04th, 2021, The International Conference on “Advances in Construction Technology – Applications of Advanced Materials and Machine Learning” was co-organized by Vietnam Japan University, VNU and Japan Construction Association (JSCE).The plenary session of the conference took place in the form of an onsite and online combination with the participation of Prof. Dr. Sc. Nguyen Dinh Duc, Head of Training Department of VNU, Program Director of Infrastructure Engineering as chair of the workshop and Prof. Dr. Kato Hironori, University of Tokyo, Co-director of Infrastructure Engineering program.
In recent years, advances in construction engineering, especially the application of advanced materials and machine learning, have been considered by many national and international organizations as a model for development and research. GS. TSKH. Nguyen Dinh Duc said that the workshop on the application of advanced materials and machine learning has created a valuable forum for all scientists, researchers, experts in Vietnam and internationally to discuss.
Discuss various aspects of advanced materials in the world. He hoped that the Conference would create a multi-disciplinary platform for academic and research exchange as well as create a valuable opportunity to promote active cooperation between VNU researchers, scholars and researchers. international scientists, especially Japanese, Australian, and Korean experts…
This conference had the participation of five speakers including: Dr. Viet Hung School – Thuy Loi University, Dr. Phuong Tran-Rmit University, Melbourne, Australia, Dr. Tran Duc Quynh, Faculty of International Affairs, VNU, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Pang-Jo-Chun University of Tokyo, Japan, Assoc.Prof.Dr. Ji Dang Saitama University, Japan.
At the beginning of the seminar with a presentation by Dr. Truong Viet Hung on “Predicting the response of steel structures by machine learning: Prospects and challenges”. Currently, steel is one of the two most important materials in construction in Vietnam. Along with reinforced concrete materials. Especially in recent years, the use of steel materials has developed rapidly, replacing reinforced concrete materials in most factories, large-span houses and many other public works.
After that, the presentation by Dr. Phuong Tran on “Research and application of 3D printing: Current issues and future directions”. Currently, 3D printing technology has created breakthroughs in prototyping. This technology has the potential to change the way people produce.
The wide application range, diversified development technology and decreasing cost will make 3D printing more interested and popular now and in the future. By July 2018, there were 19,190 patents published on research and application of 3D printing technology in 40 countries and 2 world organizations (WO and EP). China, the United States, Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Germany, Canada, and Australia are the leading countries in the number of patents published on research and application of 3D printing technology.
Research and application of 3D printing technology focuses on 03 main directions, that is the direction of application of 3D printed products; shaping and shaping plastic materials, materials in plastic state; shaping and casting products from metal powder. In particular, the direction of application of 3D printed products is the direction of research and application that has received much attention from inventors.
Followed by a presentation of Dr. Tran Duc Quynh on “Application of DC algorithms and machine learning” talking about machine learning is a common term in today’s technology world. This is a huge step forward in computer science and is also one of the most effective ways to handle big data in Industry 4.0. The article has mentioned a few specific applications of machine learning today.
Next, the presentation of Assoc.Prof.Dr. Pang-Jo Chun on “Collaborative Visual Language Reflecting Expertise to Test and Diagnose Bridges”.
Finally, the presentation of Assoc.Prof.Dr. Ji-Dang on “Bridge Inspection, Damage Detection, and Monitoring Using UAVs, AI, and IoT”.
The delegates participating have exchanged and discussed very actively about the topics presented by the speakers, especially the research and development of advanced materials in construction. in Vietnam. In addition, there are techniques in machine learning and application of advanced materials in research and construction development in Vietnam.
International Joint Seminar “Advances in Civil Engineering Applications of Advanced Materials and Machine Learning” 2021 was a great success, raised various interesting issues, Prof. Dr. Sc. Nguyen Dinh Duc, wrapped up the symposium and warm thanked the speakers and the organizing committee for their contributions to this success of the Conference.
