Topic: “The global occurrence and management of antibiotic resistance in water environment”
Short biography about the speaker:
Dr. Liu got her Doctor’s degree from the Research Center for Eco-Environmental Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences, China. Her thesis was about the selective occurrence, environmental impacts, and control strategies of antibiotic resistance in pharmaceutical wastewater. After graduation, she continued as a postdoctoral researcher at University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, USA, working on the microbiological ecology in anaerobic methanogenesis wastewater treatment systems. From November 2017, she became a JSPS Overseas Research Fellow at the University of Tokyo, Japan. Her current research topic is the horizontal transfer of antibiotic resistance during wastewater treatment.
In the special lecture, she will talk on the global issues of antibiotic resistance and its impacts on water environment. She will also introduce international career development of young researcher based on her experience.
