Prof. NGO, Huu Hao is a Professor of Environmental Engineering and serving as Deputy Director of Centre for Technology in Water and Wastewater, School of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology, University of Technology Sydney. He is also serving as Co-Director of Joint Membrane Bioreactor Center, Vice Chairman, and Academic Committee of the International Science & Technology Cooperation Centre for Urban Alternative Water Resources Development, and Fellow & Council Member of the International Bioprocessing Association. He is also a Managing Committee Member of IWA Working Group on Alternative Water Resources (China). In addition, he is also State Foreign Expert in Xi’an University of Architecture and Technology, Honorary International Chair/Guest/Adjunct Professor of a number of Universities around the world. Prof. Ngo is internationally well-known for his activities in the areas of water and wastewater treatment and reuse technologies, especially advanced biological waste treatment technologies (e.g. membrane bioreactor, specific attached and/or suspended growth bioreactors, biomass and biosorption) and membrane technologies. His expertise and practical experience also covers the areas of water and wastewater quality monitoring and management, water and wastewater treatment technology assessment, desalination, and solid waste management. Currently, his activities focuses in the development of specific green technologies: water – waste – bioenergy nexus and greenhouse gas emission control.
Prof. Ngo has led and/or participated in more than 70 research and consulting projects (including more than 20 Australian Research Council Research Grants). His research outcomes are remarkable with more than 450 technical papers (including >300 SCI journal papers, over 100 conference papers, 4 books, 28 book chapters and a number of patents while receiving several highly recognized honors/awards.
Prof. Ngo’s editorial abilities are international recognized through his achievement of ‘Elsevier’s Top Reviewer – BITE’ and his appointment as an Editor of a high impact journal – Bioresource Technology, Elsevier (IF = 4.917). He is also a founder and Editor in Chief of Journal of Water Sustainability while being editorial board member of numerous international journals such as Science of the Total Environment, Elsevier, Environmental Nanotechnology, Monitoring and Management, Elsevier, Journal of Chemistry, Hindawi, Journal of Advances in Environmental Chemistry, Hindawi, and Journal of Energy and Environmental Sustainability, IJSEES.
Prof. Ngo has been invited to give numerous plenary/keynotes and invited talks, Conference co-chair, Theme chair, Section chair in the international conferences as well as seminars in a number of universities/research institutions. Prof. Ngo has successfully supervised numerous postdoctoral fellows, postgraduate students and a large number of capstone project students. He is presently supervising 1 Postdoctoral research fellow, 9 PhD students while co-supervising 1 PhD and 1 Masters student by research at UTS.
