Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Thanh Tu became Vice Rector of Vietnam Japan University, VNU since December 2020. Having been a former Dean of Finance and Banking Faculty, University of Economics and Business since 2015, she has accumulated more than 22 years’ experience lecturing, working in projects, doing research in finance and banking and 10 years in her management role as well… She earned Bachelor of Finance and Banking from National Economics University in 1998, Master of International Accounting from Swinburne University of Technology in 2006 and Doctor of Finance from National Economics University in 2007 and promoted to be Associate Professor in 2015. Her interest research topics are green banking and finance, risk management, governance in bank. She has nearly 40 papers published by reputational national journals, 20 papers by international journals, and published 12 books in finance banking.

International experiences:

She had participated as team member and leader in International Projects funded by the World Bank, ADB and JICA in microfinance, rural finance and transportation, Projects funded by the International Finance Cooperation and AusAID in bank governance and corporate governance. In 2018, she was Fulbright visiting scholar at Massachusetts Lowell University to conduct research on bank governance in United States. She also has been collaborating with professors from Swinburne Technology University (Australia), Alberta University (Canada), Lincoln University (UK), Massachusetts Lowell University, Baltimore University (US), Sungkyunkwan University (Korea) and GRIPS (Japan) in research projects in green finance and bank governance.

Message to Japanese stakeholders:

“I am very proud of being member of VJU. I will try my best efforts for the development of VJU as an excellent University in Vietnam and Asia. I believe that under the strongly support from the two Vietnam and Japan Governments, with the high quality of VJU leaders as well as excellent VJU lecturers and staffs, we will bring VJU to the world, contribute for the friendship of the two peoples – Vietnamese and Japanese, for a better understanding and sharing culture and knowledge of the two countries.”
