Between 23 – 26 November, 2016, Vietnam Japan University in coordination with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) held enrollment conferences in an effort to boost University promotion and enrollment in Japan. The Conferences are part of a series of events conducted in three big cities in Japan, including Kyoto, Nagoya, and Tokyo.
Participants include VJU Rector, Vice Rector, and Program Directors of the six master’s programs launched this year: Nanotechnology, Infrastructure Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Public Policy, Area Studies, and Business Administration.

The conferences received a lot of attention and participation from Vietnamese, Japanese and foreign students, young scientists, and businesses in Japan.

In the conferences, Prof. Furuta Motoo, VJU Rector briefed about the University’s history, missions, education philosophies, prominent differentiation, and career opportunities for students at VJU. Prof. Furuta Motoo also encouraged young scientists and talented students to choose the University for their personal development, contributing to promotion efforts to make the University a role model not only in Vietnam but also in Japan.
“The conference aims at two objectives: first,to introduce training programs offered by VJU to Vietnamese students studying in Japan, and Japanese students who are interested in studying in Vietnam; and second, to introduce the university to Japanese business community, who are potential partners of the University in the future.” – Prof. Dr. Furuta Motoo.

Speaking at the conferences, Dr. Nguyen Hoang Oanh, VJU Vice Rector, and Directors of training programs also took the participants through the procedures to design and deliver masters training programs, faculty, enrollment plans and policies for the second cohort. Unique features of each training programs were also presented.
One of the features that set Vietnam Japan University apart is the focus on students who have visions, innovative thinking, entrepreneurship and international integration capability. Once completing master’s programs, students can apply for PhD in Japan, work for Japanese companies, regional companies, or start their own business.

“The University operates on the three philosophies: Liberation – creating open environment for innovative thinking; Sustainability – continuously developing and creating new values; and Entrepreneurship – providing training on entrepreneurship.” – stated Prof. Dr. Vu Minh Giang, Chairman of Science and Training Council – VNU, and Director of Master’s program in Area Studies– VJU.
With the support from the Japanese Government, VNU, JICA, and partner universities in Japan, VJU expects to welcome more international students in 2017 and the years to come.
VJU is one of the first universities in Vietnam to conduct promotion and enrollment campaign in Japan. Advantages of the University include linkage with VNU, as well as partnership with leading universities in Japan such as: The University of Tokyo, Osaka University, University of Tsukuba, Yokohama National University, Waseda University, Ritsukeikan University, and Ibaraki University. VJU’s Master’s programs are developed on the basis of framework curriculums transferred by coordinating universities in Japan. The University also employs highly qualified faculty, with 50% of specialized lecturers coming from coordinating universities. Training methods and supporting services also follow Japanese standards. |
