“One day, I took a taxi in Tokyo and heard a story between income of an experienced driver is 10 times higher than that of a new driver. The driver said that the current traffic is immensely congested, if the route of an experienced driver, he will know detours to save time. Passengers are also more willing to pay for a shorter route. Therefore, the capacity of an individual is crucial.
I would like to send you a message about visual measurement. The distance from the Melia hotel where I am staying in Hanoi to this auditorium should be calculated correctly: how long it will take in the morning, how long it will take in the afternoon, and how long it will take in the rushed hours. If we measure that time accurately, that is the ability to measure visually with our eyes, intuitively.
To achieve this, we need liberal arts education. Vietnam Japan University needs to train and provide the community and society with such capacity for Vietnam, Japan and Asia. Asia is expected to be the captain of the world economy in the future. Among you, I believe that many of you will become captain in many fields later.
Vietnam Japan University has become a high quality human resource training university with major feature of philosophy of sustainability science and liberal arts education. Today’s graduates are pioneers of the philosophy so I believe that you will strive for the future of the university.”
