The opening ceremony for Hanoi Office of Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal was held at Melia Hotel on 28th July, 2017. Rector Furuta Motoo delivered a speech, especially the ceremony has attendance of Vice Minister of Transportation Nguyen Ngoc Dong, Japanese Ambassador to Vietnam Umeda Kunio, Rector of University of Transport and Communications Nguyen Ngoc Long.

Congratulations on opening Hanoi office of Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal. After Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal founded the subsidiary “Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Vietnam” in 2016 and by opening this Hanoi office, it has completed to prepare a business development to the whole Vietnam. Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal, the representative steel manufacturer in Japan, is expected to greatly expand its steel produce for increasing demand in Vietnam. That is a very encouraging event for Japanese people in Vietnam. I am praying that Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal’s presence in Vietnam and its role will be further increased by opening this Hanoi office.
In this progress, Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal will be able to demonstrate great contribution to Vietnamese society. Vietnam Japan University has just opened in last September with six master programs, Environmental Engineering, Nanotechnology, Infrastructure Engineering, Area Studies, Business Management, and Public Policy. Although we are not yet able to start collaborative research with Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal, Vietnam Japan University has the master programs, Nanotechnology, Infrastructure Engineering, which are related to the business of Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal. Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal has proposed to provide the scholarship to Vietnam Japan University. Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal, which opened a Hanoi office today, would be expected to contribute widely to Vietnamese society including a new attempt in Vietnam such as the relationships with Vietnam Japan University. I hope that the contribution to Vietnamese society by Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal would be expanded. Finally, I would like to congratulate on opening Hanoi office of Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal
Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal, that has run 14 operation entities and employed approximately 3,000 people, has continued to develop engineering products and engineering methods fitting to the climate and environment in Vietnam. The company has opened Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Vietnam in last October and Hanoi Office in this time aiming that develop the business in the field of infrastructure and energy with reinforced organization and staff.
