On May 2, 2018, Vietnam Japan University (VJU), VNUHN was honored to welcome Mr. Fumio Kishida, Chairman of the Liberal Democratic Party’s Policy Research Council, and Former Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan on his working visit to the University.
The visiting delegation was warmly welcomed by VJU Rector, Prof. Furuta Motoo as well as chiefs of the University’s functional departments and units.
Mr. Fumio Kishida is genuinely delighted at the University’s achievements
On behalf of VJU, Prof. Dr. Furuta Motoo presented a broad overview of the University’s history and achievements to the Japanese delegation. Accordingly, VJU was founded in commemoration of 40 years of cooperation between Japan and Vietnam, and regarded as a symbol of friendship and a bridge of knowledge between the two countries. Since its foundation in September 2016, VJU has made encouraging progress. The University is currently running seven Master’s programs, namely Nanotechnology, Environmental Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, Public Policy, Area Studies, Business Administration, and Climate Change & Development. VJU is to hold a graduation ceremony for the first cohort of its Master’s programs in July 2018 and prepared to offer undergraduate courses in 2019. The University is also known for its accomplishments in scientific research with numerous papers published on ISI/Scopus-indexed journals. In addition, VJU students brought home notable achievements, e.g. awards for scientific research and start-up projects, and a Career Quest grand prize, etc.

Mr. Fumio Kishida was delighted at the University’s initial accomplishments. As a member of the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance, Mr. Fumio Kishida was aware of the initiative to set up VJU right from the start, and able to observe the University’s training programs deployed in reality. Mr. Fumio Kishida had absolute trust that VJU would be a place for the application of educational advancements in both Vietnam and Japan.

Within the framework of his visit, Mr. Kishida and his accompanying delegation spent time at VJU’s My Dinh campus, meeting and discussing with students and faculty members of the University. He said: “Vietnam Japan University serves a crucial role in fostering the relationship between the two countries. I sincerely wish that VJU students would help to strengthen ties of friendship between Vietnam and Japan in the future, as well as hope for them to achieve considerable success and make great strides internationally”.
