Subscription Business Model Workshop by Rakumo Inc.

On December 4, VJU students attended a special seminar lectured by Mr. Daisuke Mitarai (CEO, Rakumo Inc.) about “The art of Subscription Business”. The seminar consisted of three parts: lecture about Rakumo and subscription model (by Mr. Mitarai), lecture about Rakumo Vietnam (Mr. Huynh, General Director of Rakumo Vietnam), and workshop.

This seminar was a great chance for VJU students to learn more about subscription business models though the real examples. VJU students discussed very actively during and after the workshop in which they were divided into 3 groups discussing about ideas of using subscription model to develop a business.

Mr. Daisuke Mitarai shared: “At the workshop, we asked the possibility of a subscription business in Vietnam through group work, but it was impressive that everyone said it was quite difficult from the aspect of intellectual property rights issues and information leakage. I hope that the environment will be improved in Vietnam as soon as possible, and SaaS (software licensing and delivery model) will be used in business more. After the lecture, the representative of Vietnam was given many questions from a large number of the students also.”
