He mentioned that strengthening of collaboration on the field of science and technology between Japan and Vietnam can create various values.

Amid ongoing globalization and growing influence and interdependence among countries across the world, the role of science, technology and innovation (STI) has become more important than ever to solve the Global Issues including the Sustainable Development Goals(SDGs).

Under these circumstances, in 2015, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan has appointed a Science and Technology Advisor to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, who serves as a bridge between science and diplomacy, and has been promoting science and technology diplomacy. In this lecture, introduced Japan’s efforts on science and technology diplomacy and Japan’s trend of STI in the life science field based on the progress of globalization. In the basic research in life science, Japan has been recording remarkable achievements and making significant contributions to the world. Therefore, Prof. Mitsunobu Kano explained the latest basic research results and the STI policies that support them from familiar examples.
