On December 12, 2017, Vietnam Japan University (VJU), Vietnam National University Hanoi (VNUHN) organized a ceremony to award Masters scholarships sponsored by Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Vietnam.

Attendees to the ceremony include leaders of Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Vietnam as well as leaders and students of Vietnam Japan University, VNUHN.

Prof. Dr. Furuta Motoo, Rector of VJU, began the ceremony by expressing  sincere thanks to Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Vietnam for  its internship offers, employment opportunities and especially financial support to the University’s excellent students. These scholarships not only give assistance to  students, but also foster a lasting relationship between VJU and its business partners.

Full tuition fee scholarships sponsored by Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Vietnam were given to two Masters students: Le Viet Hung, a graduate student in Infrastructure Engineering, and  Pham Trong Lam, in Nano-technology major.

Speaking at the ceremony, Mr Akahoshi Tetsuya – CEO of Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Vietnam expressed his pleasure to become a partner with and a scholarship sponsor for Vietnam Japan University. Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Vietnam offers the scholarships in hope to give disadvantaged students with excellent academic performance  an opportunity to study in an advanced educational environment. Mr. Akahoshi hoped that VJU graduates would work for Japanese companies in general and for Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Vietnam in particular.

Scholarship recipient Pham Trong Lam, a Nanotechnology Master’s student shared: “I am deeply thankful  for the scholarship sponsored by Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Vietnam. My plan is to undertake in-depth research in the field of nanotechnology, and this scholarship is an unstinting support to me. I will spare no efforts in learning and doing research, not only to achieve my own success but also   to help students of later cohorts.

An important strategy of VJU is to develop  close partnerships with businesses with respects to training, researches, scholarship sponsorship and employment opportunities in order to become a university with high quality educational environment.
