On August 01, 2018, the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Signing Ceremony between Vietnam Japan University (VJU), a member university under Vietnam National University, Hanoi and the Institute of Transport Science and Technology (an agency of the Ministry of Transportation) was successfully held, marking a milestone in tightening the relationship between the two parties.
The ceremony was witnessed by representatives from the Institute of Transport Science and Technology, including Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Khang, the Director, and other esteemed leaders and managers of the Institute. Representing the VJU itself were Prof. Dr. Furuta Motoo, the Rector, and other elite members.
Via this Memorandum of Understanding, the VJU and the Institute of Transport Science and Technology have agreed to further stimulate joint activities, including cooperation in scientific researches in terms of establishing standards, qualities, techno-economic norms, designing technical handbooks, sampling technology and design in the field of transportation, co-participation in scientific researching projects as ordered by both parties and application of science and technology to promote coordination during the proposal and implementation of projects relating to development of transportation infrastructure as funded by various sources.
An agreement is also reached by the two parties in terms of training activities (which includes mutual assistance in providing post-graduate education and other training programs) and organising scientific conferences, seminars, and discussions (which involves coordination in holding scientific conferences, seminars and discussions at both country and international level in order to review and share experiences as well as to disseminate results of scientific researches, trainings and consultation).
As for VJU, Prof. Dr. Furuta Motoo expressed the hope that the MOU will bring about positive benefits to both sides. VJU is pleased to welcome experts and officers from the Institute to the university for the purpose of studying, sharing experiences, as well as cooperating in the research for development.
Speaking on behalf of the Institute, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Xuan Khang expressed the wish that VJU will bridge Japanese companies to the industrial science communities in Vietnam. The Institute of Transport Science and Technology hopes that this cooperation will introduce guidance for companies’ development and contribute to the progressive development of Vietnam.
Per Prof. Nguyen Dinh Duc – Co-Director of the Infrastructure Engineering Program, signing the MOU with the Institute of Transport Science and Technology, the leading agency responsible for initiating proposals to the Ministry of Transportation, is an important event with the VJU, especially with the program itself. As members of the program, its teacher and students alike are therefore excited and look forward to new opportunities lining up.
