Digital Manufacturing is an integration between Mechanical Engineering Technology, Information Technology, and Automation. In other words, training human resources for digital manufacturing in the future is training mechatronic engineers. The Fourth Industrial Revolution and the process of international integration demanded that Vietnam rapidly promote the development of mechatronics, promising to open up many great job opportunities in this field. According to a report by the General Statistics Office of Vietnam, by 2030, the demand for human resources in the mechatronics industry will reach about 1.2 million people.
In response to market demand as well as ensuring high-quality human resources, in 2023, Vietnam Japan University opened a new program integrating engineer-master “Intelligent Mechatronics System and Japanese Manufacturing (MJM).”
Lectures by Prof. ENOMOTO Toshiyuki from Osaka University, Japan with the topic “Mechatronics, Precision Manufacturing, and Smart Material”
Objectives of the program
MJM aims to train high-quality human resources, create comprehensive knowledge in the fields of Mechatronics, Precision Mechanics, and materials; Be capable of self-adapting in a constantly changing technological context; Have competitiveness in the domestic and foreign labor markets, especially excellent Japanese companies in Vietnam.
Highlights of the Intelligent Mechatronics System and Japanese Manufacturing program at Vietnam Japan University
-
Liberal education philosophy helps learners firmly grasp foundational knowledge, nurture creativity, and develop self-adaptability to the continuous change of environment and working conditions.
-
As the first integrated training program at Vietnam Japan University to train engineers – masters, it saves time and maintains continuity in training (4,5 years – engineer; 5,5 years – master).
-
The integrated training program MJM is an advanced and interdisciplinary technical program with three intensive orientations: intelligent mechatronic systems, precision manufacturing, and smart materials engineering. With such a structure, the training program helps the students adapt to a diverse working environment in technology and engineering.
-
The philosophy of “Monozukuri,” the Japanese manufacturing method, is thoroughly applied throughout the show. Many modules are designed and taught by professors from Osaka University, Japan. The model of training in combination with enterprises is implemented through the Memorandum of Understanding with Japanese companies in Vietnam, such as MITANI SANGYO Co., Ltd. and KOGANEI SEIKI Co., Ltd. Therefore, students experience the environment and production methods while still in university.
-
There are many diverse and flexible student exchange programs with leading Japanese universities such as Osaka University, the University of Tokyo, etc., giving students the opportunity to experience studying in Japan.

Wide variety of Job opportunities
-
After graduation, students can take up positions such as design engineer, technical consultant, technical system operator and manager, and technical project manager.
-
Opportunity to become a researcher and product developer in technology and engineering in companies or in domestic and foreign research institutes and centers.
-
Lectures at universities of technology and engineering
-
Continue to study at the doctoral level at leading universities in Vietnam and Japan.
With the potential and strength of Vietnam Japan University, the university hopes to foster talents and high-quality human resources that directly contribute to the development of society, becoming more and more sustainable.
