On July 18, 2023, Vietnam Japan University held a review meeting for the lectures that are part of a series with the theme “Japanese Management.” These lectures are conducted within the framework of the cooperation program between Vietnam Japan University and Mitani Sangyo Co., Ltd. and Koganei Seiki Co., Ltd.
This course aims to develop human resources who can perceive Japanese manufacturing from a global perspective since 2021. This year, the second year of the program, a total of 15 classes were held from February 2023 to May 2023 as “Japanese-style management,” a regular course of the undergraduate Japanese Studies Program. Continuing from last year, a variety of lectures and company visits were given by top-class Japanese corporate executives, experts, and others.
At the meeting, Rector Furuta said, “We would like to make this corporate collaboration course a model case of industry-university collaboration. For this purpose, we would like to develop this course into a meaningful program for both the university and the companies in collaboration.”
During the meeting, four student representatives presented what they had learned through the lectures. The students expressed their gratitude to the participating companies and institutions and said, “This course provided the basis for understanding Japanese companies. I learned that the Japanese management principle of “Monozukuri is Hitozukuri (Making things leads to making people)” is important for the sustainable development of a company and the importance of management with a long-term perspective. I also gained an understanding of the importance of management philosophy and how to create value for customers. I believe that these perspectives gained through the lectures are also important for Vietnamese companies, and I would like to pursue them further in the future.” The participants seemed to have deepened their understanding of Japanese-style manufacturing through these lectures.
