On 29th March 2022, The 1st General Meeting of the Liaison Organization of VJU Collaborating Universities in Japan took place online with the attendance of Prof. Furuta Motoo – Rector of Vietnam Japan University, representatives from 27 universities and 01 research institute in Japan, representatives of JICA and representatives from related units.
The event was honored to receive congratulations from Mr. Yamada Takio – Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan in Vietnam, Mr. Takebe Tsutomo – President of Japan Promotion Office, Special Advisor of Vietnam Japan Friendship Association, and Mr. Yamanaka Shinichi – Vice President of Japan International Cooperation Agency JICA.
Considered as a symbol of the cooperation between the two countries Vietnam and Japan, Vietnam Japan University always receives the attention of many students, lecturers and experts from both countries. In particular, many universities from the land of the rising sun have expressed interest and joined the Organization to promote mutual relationships and develop together, achieving higher goals. Therefore, the Liaison Organization of VJU Collaborating Universities in Japan was officially established, with 28 member universities and research institutes, all of which are famous universities and institutes with many significant achievements in all areas of education and training.
In the meeting, Prof. Furuta Motoo – Rector of Vietnam Japan University thanked and expressed respect to the members of the organization in Japan. Professor emphasized the important role of the Organization for the development of VJU, and in addition, to the development of education and research at international level. Besides, Prof. Furuta Motoo also affirmed that the Organization is founded on the voluntary spirit of its members and operates in the spirit of being a mutual partner. A pre-launch training or research program will be announced in the Organization, and universities of common interest will work together to build a system of cooperation and conduct activities under the control of the coordinator. Prof. Furuta Motoo believes that the Organization will become an independent organization that brings a lot of value to all its members.
Besides that, Prof. Furuta Motoo also introduced the vision and development strategy of VJU. In addition to the current Master and Bachelor programs, VJU has plans to open more new training programs, first of which are 2 undergraduate programs, Smart and Sustainable Agriculture, and Civil Engineering. These programs are expected to be put into enrollment and teaching in the academic year 2022-2023. With the new campus project in Hoa Lac being developed and about to start construction, VJU believes that the campus will be able to meet the scale of 6,000 students in the near future.
With the establishment of the Liaison Organization of VJU Collaborating Universities in Japan, VJU students, lecturers and experts from Vietnam and Japan will have more opportunities to exchange academic issues, research papers, etc. At the same time, the Organization will serve as a basis for members to promote exchange programs for students, lecturers, and implementation of short-term study abroad programs as well as transfer programs, dual degree training programs, etc.
Prof. Furuta Motoo proposed the Constitution and received approval from all members. In addition, the members also elected the President and Vice President of the Organization for a 2-year term. Three Steering Committees were also established, including: Graduate Programs & Research Committee, UG Social Science and Humanities Committee and UG Science & Technology Committee.
Finally, after the assignment of other executive positions and responsibilities of the members, the Liaison Organization of VJU Collaborating Universities in Japan officially declared its establishment. The Organization believes that this will be a new breakthrough step in the relationship between universities in particular and the bilateral relationship between Vietnam and Japan in general.
