On December 01, 2021, the lecture on “Japanese and Vietnamese Business” of the VJU Industry Collaboration Course with Mitani Sangyo Co. Ltd. and Koganei Seiki Co. Ltd. was held online on the topic of “Japanese manufacturer industries” featuring Koganei Seiki’s President, Mr. Kamoshita Yusuke, Koganei Seiki’s Technical Engineer, Ms. Pham Thu Huong, and Koganei Seiki’s Program Engineer, Mr. Bui Dinh Giap.
VJU bachelor’s students had the opportunity to explore the “Japanese style HR development and organizational structure” in the session of this collaborative course with Mitani Sangyo Co., Ltd. In this session with Koganei Seiki Co., Ltd., VJU students were introduced to the Japanese automotive industry and Koganei Seiki’s production process, customer management and employees’ skill development.
Mr. Kamoshita started the lecture with an overview of Koganei Seiki Co., Ltd. being at the front line of the precision machining industry focusing on manufacturing engine parts for F1, Moto GP race aeroplane jets and so on. Koganei Seiki has a Vietnam branch located in Cau Giay District, Hanoi, and has been recruiting many Vietnamese employees and they are treated equally with Japanese.
After the company introduction, the Japanese automotive industry was explained with the flow from production to sales and the pyramid-like structure with OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) (e.g. Toyota, Honda) at the top. Tier-one suppliers manufacture larger components and modules. They purchase their components and parts from tier-two suppliers. Mr. Kamoshita stated that Koganei Seiki is a tier-two or tier-three supplier but the company received orders directly from OEMs. He also analyzed the theory of customer relationship management with common business forms including BtoB, BtoC, and BtoBtoC.
The lecture continued with the presentation of Mr. Bui Dinh Giap; introduction of i. the production process of Koganei with the key “5C” parts of engines and ii. the production management process including human resources, machinery system management, and quality.
The lecture ended with the critical challenges for Koganei Seiki as the regulation for fossil fuel-based vehicles will soon be applied in many countries to tackle climate change. Koganei’s engineers tested electric cars and the company came up with the solution for this challenge. Mr. Kamoshita stated that it was important to constantly work on new ideas and products and always be innovative to tackle various challenges.
