The Vietnam Japan University (VJU) – Vietnam National University Hanoi (VNUHN) represents one of the largest investment projects of Japan in Vietnam. VJU offers a new model, which is developed based on Japanese format but locally adjusted to the context of Vietnam. The University has enormous potential to become the center of cultural and academic exchanges, serving as a symbol of cooperation between the two countries Vietnam – Japan.
VJU’s mission is to provide human resources and scientific and technological products of high quality; receive transfers of knowledge from Japan; promote cooperative relations between Vietnam and Japan; and make positive impacts on the higher education system of VNUHN in particular and Vietnam’s higher education in general.
Level: Master’s Study
Majors: In 2017, VJU offers 06 master’s programs, including:
- Master’s Program in Nanotechnology
- Master’s Program in Infrastructure Engineering
- Master’s Program in Environmental Engineering
- Master’s Program in Public Policy
- Master’s Program in Area Studies
- Master’s Program in Business Administration
Scholarships:
- 50 scholarships, of which: 30 full-tuition scholarships and 20 half-tuition scholarships funded by the Japanese Government.
- 60 full scholarships of USD 5,000 (equivalent to VND 110 million/student) to cover airfare, insurance and living allowance for a 3-month internship program in Japan for all enrolled students.
- Three engineering majors, including: Infrastructure engineering, Environmental engineering and Nano technology will receive partial scholarships from other organizations and individuals.
- 80% of study costs of the master’s program at VJU is supported by the Governments of Japan and Vietnam. Specifically, tuition fees for the class of 2017-2019 is USD 3,300 (approximately VND 75 million). This tuition rate is equivalent to only 1/5 of the actual training costs (about USD 15,000).
- 05 full scholarships of 1,440,000 JPY/student (equivalent to 290,000,000VND/student) for students of Japanese studies in Master’s program in Area Studies.
Requirements: Eligibility for scholarships shall be reviewed based on academic results of each phase.
– The first semester scholarships are based on entrance examination results including application screening and interviews; the other criteria will be specified by the donors;
– Scholarships of subsequent semesters will be evaluated based on academic performance and discipline of students.

Application requirements: Application requirements for the 2017 master’s programs include
– Application form for master study (using to provided form);
– Curriculum Vitae in Vietnamese (with 3cm x 4cm photo, sealed, and certified by current employer or local government of residency), and an English translation;
– Certified or notarized copy of university diploma or certificate of university graduate, and an English translation;
– Certified or notarized copy of university transcripts, and an English translation;
– Certified or notarized copy of valid language certificates, and an English translation;
– Health certificate (issued by provincial or municipal health facility of Vietnam in the last 6 months);
– An essay on intended research at VJU (for applicants of master’s programs in Business Administration and Environmental Engineering);
– Letter of recommendation (using the provided form);
– Certified or notarized copy professional documents and certificates, and research achievements (if any).
