Vietnam Japan University (VJU) and Nguyen Tat Thanh University (NTTU) signed a cooperation agreement in a formally-organized ceremony on February 6, 2018, marking a milestone in their working partnership.
Among the attendees were representatives of Nguyen Tat Thanh University: Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung – Chairman of the Board of Directors cum President, and Mr. Nguyen Loc – Vice President. In addition, the ceremony had the presence of Prof. Dr. Furuta Motoo – VJU Rector, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Anh Dzung – VJU Standing Vice Rector, Dr. Nguyen Hoang Oanh – VJU Vice Rector, JICA representatives and chiefs of the University’s functional departments.
Prof. Dr. Furuta Motoo, VJU Rector said: “I am genuinely impressed by the considerable growth of Nguyen Tat Thanh University over its nearly 20 years of development. Vietnam Japan University, despite its young age, has real strengths fully recognized by both institutions via various mutual exchanges and in-depth discussions. I sincerely believe this memorandum of understanding would offer major benefits in various fields to both institutions and lay a sound foundation for our active and sustainable cooperation in the future.
On behalf of Nguyen Tat Thanh University, Mr. Nguyen Manh Hung commented: “In the face of challenges presented by the Industry 4.0, universities all feel the urge to modify their academic models and educational contents in accordance with social requirements and demands. One of the models Nguyen Tat Thanh University desires to be guided by is the Japanese model of liberal arts education, of which Vietnam Japan University is a representative. In addition, it is known that VJU has a strong partnership network with major universities in Japan; we thus hope VJU would aid Nguyen Tat Thanh University in approaching Japanese educational system”.
In accordance with the terms of this Agreement, the two partner universities pledge to collaborate in: Exchanging faculty members, professionals and students to acquire and transfer knowledge, experiences and technologies of Japan locally; Training and fostering human resources to the demand of both universities; Developing a Japanese academic model in Vietnam on the principles of liberal arts education with a view to supplying high-quality human resources for Japanese firms in both Vietnam and Japan as well as Vietnamese businesses in Japan; Forming research teams and seeking funding for researches in key areas; Organizing local and international seminars and conferences; Promoting, improving public images and enhancing brand equity.
