Vietnam Japan University solemnly held an elaborate graduation and degree conferment ceremony on July 21, 2018, for the first cohort of 56 master students. This historic event highlights the initial achievements of Japanese-standard graduate training cooperated between Vietnam Japan University and other leading Japanese institutions. 

The Japanese delegates attending the ceremony were Mr. Tsutomu Takebe – Special Advisor to the Japan-Vietnam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance, Mr. Kunio Umeda – the Ambassador of the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam, and Mr. Katsuichi Uchida – Vice Chairman of University Council; the Vietnamese delegates were Mr. To Huy Rua – Former Politburo Member, Chairman of the Vietnam-Japan Friendship Association, Honorary Rector, and Mr. Nguyen Kim Son –President of Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNUHN), Chairman of University Council. 

Among the attendees are delegates from VNUHN units, Japan International Cooperation Agency, partner institutions and corporate sponsors. 

 

On September 09, 2016, Vietnam Japan University kicked off the first six master’s degree programs, namely Master’s program in Area Studies in cooperation with the University of Tokyo, Master’s program in Business Administration in cooperation with Yokohama National University, Master’s program in Environmental Engineering in cooperation with the University of Tokyo and Ritsumeikan University, Master’s program in Infrastructure Engineering in cooperation with the University of Tokyo, Master’s program in Nano Technology in cooperation with Osaka University, and Master’s program in Public Policy in cooperation with University of Tsukuba.

The success of this first graduate cohort justifies high-quality training cooperated by Vietnam Japan University and leading Japanese institutions. Of the 56 graduates, twelve have decided to pursue their doctorate study, seven of whom are awarded with Japanese Government Scholarships, three are awarded with scholarships from two Japanese and one Taiwanese leading research universities, four of whom have decided to work for Japanese companies in Tokyo, and many others have decided to develop a career in global environment, or Vietnam’s leading enterprises.

We would like to congratulate the new Masters, who are the first to experience advanced, modern, world-standard training environment, facilitated by creditable Japanese and Vietnamese professors, lecturers and experts. “Be proud of yourself, appreciate this achievement for your confidence,” shared VNUHN President Nguyen Kim Son, “and never cease to improve your academic knowledge, and uphold your ethics, personality and sense of social responsibility. Your success will soon be the glowing and convincing testament to VJU’s educational model and philosophy, multiplied exponentially by the fact that you are only the first cohort of VJU graduates. Your success will inspire and boost the confidence of VJU’s not only teaching staff, but also current and future generations of students.”

Special Advisor to the Japan-Viet Nam Friendship Parliamentary Alliance, H.E. Tsutomu Takebe also congratulated the initial success of Vietnam Japan University as well as the new graduates. H.E. believed this would be a substantial complement to the 45th anniversary of Vietnam-Japan diplomatic relation. H.E. also reminded the new graduates to take advantage of any opportunity to overcome every challenge, and make a change not only to themselves, but also their families and the society as a whole.
