With the broad, inter- and transdisciplinary topics among scientific, social and economic disciplines, VJST2019 was held on May 4 aiming to create a forum for promoting the exchanges and collaborations in science and technology in Vietnam and Japan, as well as building a consensus among the communities towards a sustainable future of human being.
VJST 2019
Since the establishment of bilateral diplomatic ties in 1973, relations between Vietnam and Japan have been growing rapidly and the two countries upgraded the relationship to extensive strategic partnership for peace and prosperity in Asia in March 2014. Japan has become one of the most important and comprehensive partner of Vietnam. In two recent years, 2017 and 2018, FDI from Japan ranked number one in amount among all countries and territories having investment projects in Vietnam. Moreover, number of Vietnamese enterprises working in Japan has been increasing rapidly in these years. Recently, there are about 300 thousands Vietnamese living in Japan and 20 thousands Japanese living in Vietnam. Among them, there are many scientists, experts working in academic sector or at R&D companies. These workforces are significant importance for the development of the both countries in the era of knowledge-driven economics and they need to have platforms for constant exchange and transfer of science, technology, know-hows, policies, etc. among academicians, enterprises, organizations.
In this circumstance, Vietnam – Japan Science and Technology Symposium (VJST), a scientific forum co-organized by the VNU Vietnam Japan University (VJU) and the Vietnamese Academic Network in Japan (VANJ), was held in Hanoi to promote exchanges and collaborations in science, technology in Vietnam and Japan. Center theme of the 1st symposium held in Hanoi, VJST2019, is “Towards Sustainable Development”, the indisputable goal of any economy in the world to achieve strong growth, coupled with environmental sustainability, social equality, and integration.
The scope of VJST2019 includes 9 topics: Applications of AI, ICT, IoT and Robotics in Sustainable Development; Bio-Medical Sciences and Public Healthcare; Clean-Renewable Energy and Smart-Technology for Power Networks; Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation; Environmental Engineering and Management; Green Chemistry, Sustainable Agriculture and Food Safety; Micro/Nano Science, Material Science for Sustainable Development; Policies and Economical Strategies for Sustainable Development; Transportation, Infrastructure Engineering.
With the broad, inter- and transdisciplinary topics among scientific, social and economic disciplines, VJST2019 aims to create a forum for promoting the exchanges and collaborations in science and technology in Vietnam and Japan, as well as building a consensus among the communities towards a sustainable future of human being.
Prof. Furuta Motoo, the Rector of VJU
Prof. Furuta Motoo, the Rector of VJU shared at the symposium: “In order to promote academic exchange activities between scientists from Vietnam, Japan and other countries, VJU, in collaboration with many domestic and international partners, has been organizing numerous number of open lectures, seminars, workshops, conferences and symposiums. “Vietnam – Japan Science and Technology Symposium 2019 – Towards Sustainable Development” (VJST2019), co-organized with Vietnamese Academics Network in Japan (VANJ), is an event in a series of VJU’s activities to create a dynamic and multidisciplinary platform for science and technology exchange between Vietnam and Japan. All topics of VJST2019 overlap with eight current academic fields at VJU: Nano-technology, Infrastructure Engineering, Climate change and Adaptation, Environmental Engineering, Public Policy, Business Administration, Area Studies, Global Leadership.
Therefore, we do believe that our scientists and students can benefit a lot from and have reasonable contributions to the symposium. We also hope that VJST2019 will create a milestone in building a forum, VJST, to connect scientists working in Vietnam and Japan for constant cooperation in education and research activities for sustainable development of human being society.”
