Rules of the contest “Creating a Game using Scratch”
- Conditions of participation:
- All students studying at VJU, lecturers and all staff working at VJU.
- Participants can register as an individual or in groups.
- Tools for game creation:
- All games must be developed using MIT’s Scratch (https://scratch.mit.edu/).
- Topic:
- The contest is not limited to topics. Therefore, game designers can choose your own topics based on your interest and purposes.
- Must have a sprite related to VJU, for example VJU mascot, VJU logo, etc.
- Submission deadline:
- Deadline is 5:00 p.m. on March 8, 2024.
- Award announcement time: March 16, 2024.
- Participants must submit project documents on the link provided by the organizers.
- Evaluation standards:
- The game will be evaluated based on specific criteria stated in the “Scoring Method”.
- Games must be creative and must not be copied. Copyright infringement or use of pre-existing projects will be disqualified.
- Project documents:
- Participants must submit a short document describing the game concept, features and any special elements implemented (2-3 A4 pages).

- Demo/Presentation:
- The winner maybe asked to provide a demo or short presentation about the game, explaining main features and design options.

Prize Structure:
- 01 prize for Best Game, receives 3.000.000 VND
- 01 prize for Most Creative Game, receives 1.000.000 VND
- 01 prize for Best Designed Game, receives 1.000.000 VND
- 01 prize for Most Favorite Game, receives 1.000.000 VND
Scoring method

Scoring the project based on the following criteria:
- Creativity (20 points):
• Creativity of game ideas.
• Unique and creative use of Scratch features.
• Uniqueness in game design and mechanics. - Features (30 points):
• Smooth and responsive game controls.
• No errors or technical problems.
• Overall user experience and appeal. - Graphic design (20 points):
• Creativity (8 points): The level of originality and creativity of graphic elements in the game.
• Aesthetics and harmony (7 points): Level of harmony and aesthetics in graphic arrangement.
• Player interaction (5 points): How the graphics interact with the player, flexibility and
creativity. - Topic or Content (15 points):
• Integration and connection (7 points): Evaluate the game’s strong integration and creative connection to the theme/content. Ask the game not only to present simply, but also to interact closely with it.
• Deep reflection (8 points): Evaluate the level of correct and deep reflection on the topic/content in the game. The experience needs to demonstrate a deep understanding and creative interaction with the ideas. - Project documents (15 points):
• Evaluate the team’s ability to understand and follow through project documents. Documents should provide detailed guidance on design decision, feature implementation and add necessary information whilst remaining clear and complete.

The audience or other participants vote for their favorite game. Each account using the email extension “@vju.ac.vn” has one vote. The game with the most votes will win a prize for the most favorite game.
