Master's program in Public Policy
Introduction
Training goals:
- The Master’s program in Public Policy at Vietnam Japan University (VJU) is designed to develop in students the mindset and skills needed to recognize and evaluate policy issues in order to effectively participate in the policy process for sustainable development in the context of integration.
- After graduation, students will have the skills needed to work in the fields of planning and implementation of public policy as analysts, consultants, implementers and policy evaluators. They will also be qualified to become academic researchers or members of the teaching staff at research institutes, national or international universities. In addition, they will be able to work as consultants and coordinators at international organizations or NGOs.
- The knowledge and scientific research capabilities instilled by the program will also equip students with the skills required to study PhD degrees at both national and international education institutions.

“The Master of Public Policy (MPP) is a two-year program that integrates effective theory and practice with the aim of formulating a framework for sustainable development. As part of the interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary programs at Vietnam Japan University, the MPP Program prepares students with a deep knowledge and understanding of the complexity and challenges of public policy, its formulation, implementation, and evaluation. with an emphasis on the connection between economies, industries, and national and regional developments. and international relations. The Program also equips students with a set of analytical tools and essential skills necessary to be more effective policymakers and social leaders who have not only a sustainable vision but also the capacity to find and solve problems, as well as take the lead in achieving this vision. Those participating in the program will have the opportunity to strengthen their theoretical knowledge and practical skills through hands-on projects and policy-oriented internships at domestic and international governmental, non-governmental, or private organizations. Graduates of the MPP Program are not only ready to take on leadership roles and managerial positions at Vietnamese, Japanese, and international institutions and governmental organizations, but they will also have the competency and eligibility to further their education and research on doctoral programs in this field. ”
Curriculum
The curriculum consists of a total of 64 credits, including core courses in fundamental and professional knowledge, as well as elective courses in each specified field. This is the tentative schedule that will be applied from MPP 6th intake.

2. Application requirements
- University graduates with a GPA >= 2.5/4.0 in majors specified in the admission announcement.
- In case of a GPA < 2.5/4.0, the Evaluation Committee will decide based on the working experience of candidates.
3. English proficiency requirements:
For official enrollment: At least level 4/6 (B2) in the Vietnamese Standardised Test of English Proficiency (VSTEP) or equivalent (IELTS 5.5).
4. A direct offer to the fresh graduates:
The applicants who meet our requirements on majors, GPA, and English proficiency as specified in the admission announcement can apply right after your graduation.
5. Entrance exam
- Entrance exam: Document screening and interview;
- Direct offer: Selection based on GPA without an interview.
