International conference “High-performance Computer for Scientific Research and Practical Application 2019″ is utilized for dealing with a large range of problems in multi- and inter-disciplinary fields such as computational materials design, modeling, simulations in physics, biochemistry, environment, climate change, infrastructure engineering, etc.
Dr. Nguyen Hoang Oanh, Vice Rector of VNU Vietnam – Japan University addressed a welcoming speech
On November 28, 2019, the International Conference on ” High-performance Computer for Scientific Research and Practical Application 2019” was jointly hosted by VNU Vietnam – Japan University and Thu Dau Mot University. This is an academic event in a series of cooperation programs between the two universities.
International conference “High-performance Computer for Scientific Research and Practical Application 2019″
The Conference welcomed many scholars from Japan, Taiwan and Vietnam with a total of 30 papers, 18 of them have been reviewed to publish in VNU Journal of Science, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
Dr. Nguyen Hoang Oanh, Vice Rector of VNU Vietnam – Japan University addressed that among several research directions of VJU, high-performance computer (HPC) system is utilized for dealing with a large range of problems in multi- and inter-disciplinary fields such as computational materials design, modeling, simulations in physics, biochemistry, environment, climate change, infrastructure engineering, etc. Understanding more about how HPC systems work and achieve high performance will allow us to appreciate better the opportunities and challenges for using HPC for our research. With our experience of HPC research and application, VJU in cooperation with Thu Dau Mot University would like to organize “The International Conference on High-performance Computer for Scientific Research and Practical Application – HPCRA 2019. We do believe that our scientists can benefit a lot from and have reasonable contributions to the conference.
Dr. Dinh Van An, lecturer of Master’s Program in Nanotechnology, VJU
There are total 4 sessions including Plenary session; 1st concurrent session with topics: HPC algorithms, analysis and modeling; 2nd concurrent session with the topic: High-performance computing applications in interdisciplinary research; and Dialogue & Discussion session.
In addition to the key issues mentioned, the scholars and participants confirmed that, currently, high-performance computers have been used in many areas of production and life. Many Vietnamese universities are also passionate about using high-performance computers to set up university computer systems (or computing centers) in information processing, management and administration, which connects the entire university information system, improve the efficiency of data mining, management, security, etc.
Besides, scholars, researchers, experts, and participants also discussed about experience of building and operating a high-performance computing system in order to promote scientific research, training and application at prestigious scientific and educational institutions around the world.
Assoc.Prof. Hoang Trong Quyen – Vice Rector of Thu Dau Mot University
Assoc.Prof. Hoang Trong Quyen – Vice Rector of Thu Dau Mot University addressed that High-performance computers (HPC) are used to handle a wide range of issues in multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary fields such as computational materials design, maths, modeling, simulation in physics, biochemistry, environment, climate change, infrastructure engineering,…
According to Assoc.Prof. Dr. Hoang Trong Quyen, this is an academic forum for scholars to exchange research results, investment experience, and high-performance computers application. At the same time, he suggested and proposed research directions and applications of high-performance computers in education and training (especially university education) and interdisciplinary scientific research.
