Master Program in Environmental Engineering (MEE), Vietnam Japan University (VJU), is pleased to organize a special lecture by Dr. Taishi Yazawa, Assistant Professor at Ritsumeikan University, Japan.
Time and Date: 13:00-13:50, 5 November (Tuesday)
Place: Vietnam Japan University
Topic: Toward Integrated Watershed Management under Climate Change: A Case Study of Design Flood Estimation in Malaysia
Short biography:
Dr. Yazawa received his doctoral degree in Engineering from the Department of Environmental Engineering, Kyoto University, Japan, in 2017. His dissertation was about the estimation of design flood criteria toward Integrated Watershed Management (IWM) considering climate change and its impacts on watershed hydrology in Malaysia; thus, his specialties cover hydrological modeling and watershed governance. Since he started working at Ritsumeikan University in April 2019, he has been working on his research related to the analyses of extreme hydrological events, flood and drought, in Southeast Asia to construct sustainable Asian-oriented Integrated Watershed Management considering the harmony of the watershed environment and human activities. In the special lecture, he will talk about IWM from the perspective of hydrology under climate change and share some of his experiences working abroad both in academia and the private sector.
