General Information

About VJU

Vietnam Japan University (VJU, Vietnamese: Trường Đại học Việt Nhật, Japanese: 日越大学) is the seventh university under the Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU), with legal status, separate seal and accounts. It was established in 2014 according to the Decision 1186/QD-TTg dated July 21, 2014 by the Prime Minister.

Vietnam Japan University is operated under the University Charter, the Regulation on organization and operation of VNU according to the Decision 26/2014/QĐ-TTg dated March 26, 2014 by the Prime Minister and the Regulation on organization and operation of VJU according to the Decision 391/QĐ-TTg dated March 31, 2017 by the Prime Minister.

Professor Dr. Furuta Motoo, Former Deputy President of The University of Tokyo, became the first Rector of the Vietnam Japan University in April 2016.

On September 18, 2020, Vietnam Japan University - VNU established Faculty of Interdisciplinary Social Sciences (FISS) and Faculty of Advanced Technologies and Engineering (FATE) under Decision No.714/QD-ĐHVN.

Accordingly, FISS includes the following programs: Master of Business Administration, Master of Area Studies, Master of Public Policy, Master of Global Leadership, and Bachelor of Japanese Studies.

Mission

- To nurture high quality human resources, research outcomes and knowledge transfer products to partners in the fields of interdisciplinary sciences in general and social interdisciplinary sciences in particular that support sustainable development.

- To foster Innovation Driven Entrepreneurship in the fields interdisciplinary sciences in general and social interdisciplinary sciences in particular.

- To promote knowledge transfer between Vietnam and Japan.

Vision towards 2030

- To be a highranking education and research faculty in Asia for social interdisciplinary sciences, especially those fields Vietnam and Japan having strong features and potential of cooperation.

- To contribute to VJU’s vision towards 2030: A flagship researchoriented university in Asia for interdisciplinary sciences, especially in the field of sustainability science.

Philosophy: Liberal Arts education; Learning and researching to foster sustainable development.

FATE includes the following programs: Master of Nanotechnology, Master of Infrastructure Engineering, Master of Environmental Engineering, Master of Climate Change and Development, Bachelor of Science and Engineering computer.
