Vietnam Japan University (VJU) is a new university model in Vietnam, the seventh member university under Vietnam National University-Hanoi (VNU), envisaged to become an internationally recognized university, and a symbol of the close and fruitful cooperation between Vietnam and Japan.

VJU invites applications for position of Lecturer in Faculty of Interdisciplinary Social Sciences (full-time).

Required duties and responsibilities

The successful candidate will work as a Lecturer in Faculty of Interdisciplinary Social Sciences. She or he will teach, conduct research and provide specialized academic advice to students in that field. Some key required duties and responsibilities as follows:

1. Teaching: 270 standard hours per year (minimum 50% teaching hour onsite or online) in the following field(s).
2. Research: Equivalent to 1,000 working hours per year; including:

– 01 article (the first author) in WoS/SCOPUS per year;

– Conducting research project.

3. 08 office hours per week to provide student support and mentorship.

– Provide academic advising and mentoring for students

– Support students in building research, analytical, and intercultural communication skills

– Facilitate student engagement with practical aspects through case studies, simulations, and fieldwork

4. Involvement in development of syllabi and course materials, lesson plans, student assessment methods; curriculum review and adjustment…
5. Involvement in attracting talented students, building relationship with enterprises, organizing international scientific conferences and developing VJU’s brand, and contribution to develop and maintain VJU as an international Centre of Excellence.
6. Other duties as assigned by supervisor(s) and manager(s):

– Actively participate in program meetings, faculty committees, and academic activities at the faculty and institutional levels (exam invigilator…)

– Engage in community service, outreach, or policy-related activities that connect academic knowledge with practice

– Collaborate with colleagues across disciplines to strengthen interdisciplinary and internationalized education

Qualifications

1. Qualifications: A Ph.D. degree in a relevant discipline. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in English, with the ability to conduct teaching, research, and academic communication in an international environment. Applicants should also have a proven capacity for conducting research and supervising students in research activities.
2. Professional Experience: A minimum of two (2) years of relevant professional experience in a comparable academic or research position. Candidates should possess sound knowledge and understanding of regional and global cultures, languages, economies, and related issues relevant to the discipline.
3. Other Requirements: Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multicultural and international environment.

Recruitment process

The review of applications and nominations will continue until the position is filled. Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed by Evaluation Committee appointed by the Rector.

Successful candidate will be offered a 2-year contract. Tenure-track or extension of the contract can be offered upon performances.
